Love Lacey
When I was laid off from work and unexpectedly at home for three months over winter I felt a little adrift. My identity, so entwined with my career, had taken a knock, and I wasn’t ready to get suited and booted and start imaging something new.
Instead I had a spare room full of boxes to (finally) sort out and no desire to venture into the cold. On a Christmas shopping trip I spotted these gorgeous Emma Lacey mugs in Sally Bourne Interiors in Muswell Hill Broadway, I decided to make one a gift for myself. To me they symbolised time for myself, time for head space, time for breathing, time to unpack the boxes that have traveled across the Atlantic more than once, time to watch three series of Silent Witness without feeling like relaxing equals failure.
My 5yo son barreled in to me and knocked the mug flying four days after I started a new job, it smashed. I will get another one though, just as a reminder to breath…
